Give a Little Love During Tax Season

Its Grace Barber’s ninth year preparing taxes for Yavapai residents—and she does it for free.  “I enjoy how it helps others,” said Barber. “Preparing taxes can be stressful for people.”

Barber and her Co-Site Coordinator Victor Holm are looking for a few more volunteers to join them in serving families through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which allows individuals who have an income ($54,000 or less) to receive their maximum refund.

Student Honors Grandmother and Helps Kids in Foster Care

Twelve-year-old Joe Olsen, a sixth-grader at St. John XXIII Catholic School in Scottsdale, Ariz., finished a service project this fall to honor his grandmother who wasn’t able to complete it with him.  The project aimed to raise money to buy sports equipment for foster children experiencing many of the same hardships that his grandma endured as a child growing up in an orphanage.
