Behind every donation to Catholic Charities, whether a bottle of shampoo, package of diapers or container of cleaning supplies, is a family facing a unique set of challenges. Sometimes, items as simple as these can go a long way in lessening financial burden and stress during a difficult season.

St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church's generous donation of diapers, hygiene products, cleaning supplies and other household essentials had a deeply personal impact on over 100 families in our Nurturing Parenting and Family Connections programs. St. Charles Borromeo, located in Peoria, is a small but vibrant community dedicated to sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

Supporting Parents as They Strengthen Their Families

Nurturing Parenting and Family Connections, part of a group of programs called Family Stability and Child Well-Being Services, support families involved with the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS). These programs help children remain safely at home whenever possible, support reunification when children have been removed, and strengthen parenting skills.

For parents like Arnold, Ann, Mark and Melissa, items donated by St. Charles Borromeo provided a lifeline and a reminder that they mattered.

Reducing Financial Burden for a Single Father

Arnold, a single father raising five children, knows the importance of making every dollar stretch. Household and hygiene products are necessities, but costs can quickly add up with five growing children to care for.

The donated items helped take a few things off Arnold’s shopping list, allowing him to focus his limited resources on other needs for his children.

Providing Relief to New Parents

For Ann and Mark, the donation came at a time when their family was facing difficult financial decisions. With a young daughter still in diapers, they sometimes found themselves struggling to choose between purchasing baby supplies and putting food on the table.

The baby and hygiene products Ann and Mark received provided a sense of relief and a break from the financial stress that weighed so deeply on them.

Donated Items Make a Fresh Start Possible

For Melissa, the cleaning supplies she was provided represented something different: a fresh start. Melissa and her three teenagers recently moved into their first apartment on their own.

Although this marked an exciting new chapter for the family, it also meant they needed all the essentials required to clean their new space and make it feel like home. The donated cleaning and household products helped Melissa prepare their apartment and begin this new journey feeling supported and encouraged.

Generous Donors Help Families Move Forward

We are deeply thankful to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and everyone who contributed to this donation drive. You are helping families care for their children, settle into new homes, stretch limited incomes, and move forward during challenging moments.

"We were pleased to make our contribution to The Family Connection Ministry through PCC. We hope our gifts help support those in need and bring comfort to individuals who feel unseen. Thank you for this opportunity," a member of St. Charles Borromeo shared.
