Imagine feeling alone, scared and having nowhere to turn. Thanks to a nationwide initiative through the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and the support of local parishes, many of these moms will now have a system of support.

Craig, a Desert Storm veteran, is proud of his time in the Army. He loved the sense of belonging he found in the service. A medical situation resulted in Craig losing his apartment and becoming homeless.

It is often said that being a parent is one of the most rewarding, and most difficult things a person can do. Catholic Charities Parents as Teachers program is there to help parents thrive and become their child’s first, and most important teacher.

“MANA House saved my life,” said Will. “I stayed at MANA House for 6 months. They were outstanding for me. I couldn’t ask for better guidance, structure, and support. They pulled me out of my shell.”

Joe has encouragement for veterans experiencing homelessness, “Never give up!” He knows from experience that it can take a long time and a lot of effort to find stability and thrive.
