Families come in all shapes and sizes. Catholic Charities has multiple programs throughout Arizona to help children find safety, stability and love. We assist individuals and married couples who are interested in becoming licensed foster parents through the state of Arizona. We also certify individuals and married couples to adopt through community adoption. There are many ways to grow your family and help children.
Individuals and married couples who would like to become licensed foster parents can attend an information session. This is the first step toward becoming licensed. See our online calendar to register for the next information session.
Our foster care team is happy to answer questions about the licensing process and get you started. Learn more about our programs in Central and Northern Arizona.
Therapeutic foster care is different than traditional foster care because it involves clinical intervention and placement of youth in specially trained foster homes.
Children in therapeutic foster care must be medically approved for placement and tend to require more assistance with mental, emotional and behavioral health needs. They receive structured, tailored treatment that helps them thrive. If the child does not receive approval for medical necessity, foster parents, who are licensed for therapeutic foster care can also provide High Needs Foster Care (HNFC), to support children with emotional and behavioral health needs. Unaccompanied Minors are foreign-born children in the United States without parents or legal guardians. This program differs from traditional foster care in that it provides a unique supportive environment for both the foster family and the unaccompanied refugee minors. Their support system includes mentors, case managers, former unaccompanied youth, volunteers, community members, and more.
Although the goal is to reunite children with their biological families, refugee children generally need long-term foster care since reunification with family members is rarely possible. Learn more about the Unaccompanied Minor Foster Care program.
Catholic Charities offers private infant adoption services for Arizona families who wish to open their hearts and homes to grow their family through adoption. Joining Hearts is a full-service adoption
program. The Joining Hearts team educates couples and walks alongside them through the certification process all the way until adoption finalization. Learn more about private infant adoption with Joining Hearts.
