Catholic Charities Hosts Free Workshop to Assist Legal Residents with the Naturalization Process

PHOENIX (April 19, 2023): Catholic Charities, in partnership with Friendly House and Promise Arizona, are hosting a free workshop on April 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to assist legal, permanent residents with the process of obtaining United States citizenship. As part of Catholic Charities New Americans Campaign, the daylong event will provide step-by-step review of the naturalization process, assess participants’ ability to naturalize, and assist with application preparation. The workshop will also include review of applications by an immigration attorney or qualified legal representative.

Individuals may be eligible for citizenship if they meet the following criteria:

  • Are at least 18 years of age.
  • Have had lawful permanent resident status (“Green Card”) for at least five years, or three years if married to a U.S. citizen.
  • Have been physically present in the United States for at least 30 months out of the last five years.
  • Have continuously resided in the U.S.
  • Have lived for at least three months in the state or USCIS district where they are applying.
  • Can pass the English proficiency and American civics test.

Upon registration, individuals will be screened to determine if the $725 application can be waived. To register, call 602-616-0977. At the time of registration, the location information will be provided to the participant.
