In the media, teens are often portrayed as sources of peer pressure. Their humanity and kindness is overlooked in favor of negative stereotypes. More often, teens are sources of positive social influence, serving as teammates, role models and leaders.

A misconception exists that girls benefit more from sexual education because there’s more at stake for them. However, North Star Youth Partnership understands that both girls and boys play an equal role when it comes to making choices and participating in risky behaviors that lead to teen pregnancy.

The teenage years can be a difficult transition for teens and parents alike. As teens grow and seek more freedom, communication with parents can become strained.
