Scammers claiming to be from Catholic Charities are targeting clients seeking immigration legal services.
Here’s How It Works
- The scammer reaches out on WhatsApp, text, email, or social media, offering immigration assistance.
- They say they’re from Catholic Charities.
- They ask for personal information such as your Social Security number or address.
- They request payment over Zelle or other digital payment platforms.
Do Not Respond or Provide Information!
Instead:
- Immediately contact Catholic Charities to report the fraud.
- Save the messages but do not engage.
- If you have provided financial information, report the scam to your bank or credit card company.
