Employees from AmTrust Bank got together with Catholic Charities to give formerly homeless children a Christmas party from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Verde Villas apartments in Phoenix on Saturday, December 6.
Ten AmTrust Bank employees decked out the Verde Villas community room with Christmas decorations donated from Home Depot. There was also a cookie contest and festive food donated from CVS Pharmacy.
Pine branches, red ribbons, candy canes and ornaments filled the room!

Volunteers In Action
Ten AmTrust Bank employees decked out the Verde Villas community room with Christmas decorations donated from Home Depot. There was also a cookie contest and festive food donated from CVS Pharmacy.
Santa sat in his special spot surrounded by giant lollipops and reindeer, so kids could ask him for gifts for Christmas and get a picture taken.
The volunteers also ran craft tables with the children, so they could return home with special pieces to remember the day.
"I love playing with the kids, leading the crafts," said Amanda Borchers, an AmTrust Bank employee. "We are having so much fun, and I'm getting into the holiday spirit."
Catholic Charities runs Verde Villas apartments, a low-income resident building for formerly homeless families and veterans. Residents can access free classes for managing finances, to learn computer skills and job development. The Christmas party is one of several events planned at the community center to build relationships between residents and onsite staff.
"Catholic Charities' Verde Villas is so blessed to have AmTrust Bank volunteers spreading holiday cheer to our residents, who have seen hard times but are now rebuilding their lives," said Wendy Owens, Catholic Charities event planner. “This is a great way to give everyone a great start to the holiday season.”
