Housing Case Manager’s Strong Commitment to Her Community

Written by

Catholic Charities is an agency of people who care deeply about the most vulnerable in their communities and go the extra mile to see them succeed. They’re never afraid to face a challenge head-on. Shaylyn Richardson’s commitment to help and to heal is apparent in the dedicated assistance she provides to individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

Shaylyn has been with Catholic Charities Housing Services for a little over a year and is a Housing Case Manager in our new office in Page, Ariz. She does intakes for those experiencing homelessness to get them through the “Front Door” and into safe and stable housing. Once this process is completed, she provides case management and any resources needed to break down the barriers to getting housed.

The most rewarding part of her job is when clients get to move into their new homes, some of whom may have been battling homeless for months or years. Recently, she was able to house a woman who had been living in her car.

She also enjoys running the Drop-In Center in Page, which provides day services and supplies items for those experiencing homeless such as winter gear or nutritious food. She works hard to bring awareness to the community about the need for donations.

“I’m passionate about helping vulnerable populations. I love my community and being able to give back,” she said. She is grateful to her team and supervisors for their support.

As a 30-year resident of Page, she feels a deep connection to her community. The time she’s not working is spent with her family. As a mom to four boys who love sports, she spends her free time cheering them on at their events and organizing the football booster club. Her interests include hiking and enjoying the beautiful scenery Page has to offer.
