Appreciative Mother Thanks Parents as Teachers

Written by

Even before children say their first words or take their first steps, they are looking to their parents for guidance on how to navigate the world around them. Parenting is a major responsibility, and it’s not unusual to feel overwhelmed. But with the support of Parents as Teachers (PAT), parents of young children never have to feel alone.

Parents as Teachers Supports Families

Parents as Teachers is a national program that assists parents in being their child’s first and most important teacher. Staff make home visits to families to support their children’s cognitive development and help prepare them for kindergarten. It also provides families with child health and development screenings, support and education groups, and access to community resources.
PAT has been a blessing to Isabel, whose 4-year-old son is enrolled in the program. Isabel wrote a heartfelt letter thanking staff for the positive impact they’ve made on both her and her son.

A Letter of Appreciation

Dear Parents as Teachers,

Through this letter, I want to express my deepest admiration and gratitude. This program has helped me learn alongside my child, as the formal education I received was limited. I am happy to see my child progress and prepare for his future. Thank you for the resources you give us.

I want to thank all the teachers in this program, especially Edith Escamilla. I want to thank her for her dedication and the extraordinary work she does with my son. Little by little, I began to see improvement in my son’s vocabulary and other areas of knowledge. I appreciate that Edith explains the activities step by step, and I am grateful for her patience and assistance.

Finally, I want to thank the Parents as Teachers team for all the fun online activities they shared on Zoom. I’m thankful for all the people who have helped me reach new goals and overcome challenges in my son’s education.

Isabel G.

A Successful Future Ahead

Isabel is excited for her son to go into kindergarten next year with the skills and confidence he needs to be successful. Parents as Teachers will continue to connect Isabel and her son with community resources to create a bright future.
