Catholic Charities Community Services is committed to helping our community’s most vulnerable with solutions that permanently improve lives. We do this by serving and sheltering our neighbors, strengthening children and families, welcoming refugees and immigrants, and collaborating with our community.

Catholic Charities - 4 Pillars of Service

We encourage you to take a few minutes to watch the video below highlighting the breadth of our work through real stories of lives that have been changed. Because of your support, we continue to reach more people in need throughout Arizona.

Creating a Lasting Legacy in Bullhead City

Bekke has always been called to help those in need. She believes in the work of Catholic Charities BHHS Legacy Christine Stamper Center for Help & Hope in Bullhead City. “My personal beliefs about helping the less fortunate align with those of Catholic Charities even though I’m not Catholic. I believe in the Good Samaritan philosophy; if you can help others, then you should,” shares Bekke.

Bekke is a longtime volunteer at the Center for Help and Hope and has become a staple in the kitchen where daily meals are served. Bekke has a special bond with shelter guests; she speaks to them, asks them their story, looks them in the eye and treats them with the compassion she believes they so desperately need.

After careful consideration, Bekke made the decision to leave a gift of real estate to Catholic Charities. “I feel very good about it because I truly understand the work being done at the shelter and I know the gift will make an impact.”

When asked what advice she has for others who are considering a Legacy Gift to Catholic Charities, Bekke replied, “Look into your heart and you will know.”

Foster Mom Finds Purpose in Opening Her Home

For 13 years, Georgina has been a hands-on foster mom who truly enjoys fostering teen girls through Catholic Charities’ Unaccompanied Refugee Minors (URM) program. The URM program licenses and trains foster homes to care for foreign-born children who are in the U.S. without a legal guardian.

Her journey as a foster mom began when her biological daughter was 19 years old. Georgina loved being a mom and decided she wanted to continue to provide love and care to youth who needed it. “I couldn’t have more than one child, so this is my way of taking care of kids and being a mother figure to kids who are not mine biologically,” she said. Human Trafficking Survivor Advocates for Others

Shanna is more than just a survivor of human trafficking. At a young age, she left home due to abuse in the household. Unfortunately, she quickly found herself in the hands of a trafficker. Like many human trafficking victims, Shanna was in a vulnerable state when she was targeted.

Shanna lived in the dark shadow of human trafficking for most of her teenage years. Now, through Catholic Charities’ DIGNITY Diversion program, she uses her story of survival to educate and encourage others to utilize resources to prevent this practice. Learn more about Shanna’s journey and the DIGNITY program here: Human Trafficking Survivor Advocates for Others
