Paul Mulligan visits Washington D.C. for Pope's Visit

Paul Mulligan, President and CEO of Catholic Charities visited Washington D.C. during Pope Francis' trip to the U.S. with other officials to celebrate the great event.

Through security checks, Mulligan was able to photograph Pope Francis arriving in a modest, black Fiat among the crowds surrounding the White House.

Mulligan and a crowd of 15,000 attended the welcoming ceremony at the south lawn of the White House, watching the pontiff share the podium with President Barack Obama.

Later Pope Franics held Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Many people were gathered outside watching the Mass on a large screen.

Mulligan also ran into a familiar face, Phoenix Bishop Thomas Olmsted, after the Mass.

The following day Pope Francis gave an address to a joint meeting of Congress. Pope Francis scheduled time to feed and serve the homeless and refugees at the local Catholic Charities. Mulligan took a photo in front of the door to their office.

Pope Francis traveled on to New York City, then Philidelphia to the World Meeting of Families. Though his trip was short, he touched many lives along the way.
