Volunteer Opportunities
At this time, only certain programs have volunteer needs. Below you will find volunteer opportunities in Phoenix.
DIGNITY
Transportation – Looking for couples or women who are able to transport clients to doctor appointments, Social Security Office and Department of Economic Security, offering support and assistance.
Shoppers – To assist residents with transportation to the grocery store, showing them how to use coupons and make the best choices in the selection of purchases.
Tutors – To provide supportive assistance to residents that need the extra help learning to read, write and math skills to obtain their GED. Work with residents to establish employment opportunities by assisting with creating a business plan, helping residents make products for sale, or aid in the marketing and distribution of the products for sale.
Shift Volunteer – Hands on interaction with residents that will allow case-managers to complete paperwork.
Computer Training – Due to the nature of the workforce we are looking for volunteers that are able to teach residents the basic computer skills needed to secure employment. You will teach residents basic computer skills needed to secure employment.
Life Skills Trainers – Working with residents on interviewing skills, creating resumes, how to adjust to the work force and how to keep gainful employment.
Financial Planning and Budgeting – Creating budgets and assisting residents with future planning.
Recreational Support – Seeking creative volunteers to assist residents in learning to have fun by doing: scrapbooking, stamping, learning to knit, crochet, quilt making and embroidery.
Registered Nurse - Seeking a registered nurse to volunteer their time teaching women residents about community health issues each month
Qualifications:
Must have good interpersonal skills; empathy and understanding for an at-risk population; basic knowledge of social services preferred. Must be 21 years or older.
Training and Experience:
Experience working or volunteering in a social service agency preferred.

Refugee Program
Are you looking for something exciting to do or need volunteer hours for a school or civic project? Become a volunteer and make a difference in a refugee's life.
Volunteer opportunities are available such as tutoring English as a Second Language, mentoring a family and collecting hygiene items for newly arriving families.
