Each year the Office of Peace and Justice kicks off The Catholic Campaign For Human Development Collection season with a luncheon to honor members of our community for their contributions in the area of social justice.

“We welcome the opportunity to affirm inspiring achievements that put the Church’s social teaching into action,” said Tricia Hoyt, OPJ director. “That commitment has always been the hallmark of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD).”

The McCarthy Awards will be presented by Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted on September 9, 2008 during a luncheon at the Diocesan Pastoral Center.

The Awards are named in memory of the Most. Rev. Edward A. McCarthy, the first bishop of Phoenix, who served from 1969 to 1976.
