Catholic Charities Executive Team

The following officers compose Catholic Charities' executive team. This team oversees the operations of Catholic Charities with the assistance of a management team made up of the regional service center directors and administrative service directors.

Robert Brown, MBA, Chief Executive Officer

As chief executive officer, Robert Brown oversees the entire Catholic Charities organization and reports to the corporate Board of Directors. Catholic Charities Community Services, formerly Catholic Social Service of Central and Northern Arizona, reported nearly $29 million in annual revenues in 2008.

Brown worked for a diverse range of companies, from small start ups to Wall Street giants such as Dun and Bradstreet and Xerox. He has vast experience across industries and business functions, including marketing, general management, finance and information technology. But, after more than 25 years of successfully strengthening companies in the for-profit world, Brown felt a calling—he wanted to give back, to use the skills he had gained in the business world to help people.

In January of 2008, Brown joined Catholic Charities Community Services as chief administrative officer. He quickly set about strengthening the agency's infrastructure—applying new technologies, eliminating duplication, and streamlining processes. These improvements resulted in immediate and substantial savings which the organization was able to allocate to its programs at a time when its clients experienced unprecedented need for services.

Brown has a bachelor's degree in accounting from St. Bonaventure University and a Master's of Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a member of the Business Advisory Council for the School of Business at St. Bonaventure and a Board Member at the Franciscan Renewal Center.

Brown shares his Paradise Valley home with his wife of 43 years, Nancy. They enjoy visiting their six grown children and 12 grandchildren and playing golf.

She also holds master's degrees in educational psychology and social work from ASU, as well as a bachelor's degree in social work.

Dr. Schmidt is married and has two children, a daughter who is a recent NAU graduate and a son at Creighton University.
