Dear Friends of Catholic Charities:
I was recently asked by our organization's Board of
Directors to serve as CEO of Catholic Charities Community Services. I am honored
and proud to be asked to lead an organization with such a fine reputation and a
rich 75+ year history of serving those in need.
As rich as that history is, if there is
anything it teaches us, it is that the world is constantly
changing—technologies, economies, political environments—and that we must change
with it. We must not merely respond to change, but embrace it and seek
opportunities to strengthen what we do and how we do it. We have only to review the last year
to see how change can affect us. We saw many of those who were once Catholic
Charities donors now coming to us for help. We saw shrinking
resources forcing us to do more with
less.
But we are a community organization, and it is community that pools together
resources to help its members in time of need. Indeed, that is the very essence
of community—members like you who give of what we in the nonprofit world fondly
call the three T's: time, talent and treasure.
Volunteers are an invaluable resource in helping us further our mission.
Everyone has something, some talent to give—mentoring staff and fellow
volunteers in project management, great photography skills, a sincere compassion
for working directly with our community's most vulnerable. We are seeking
volunteers of all talents and time commitments. Your time and talents would be
most appreciated. And of course, monetary donations are always needed and
welcomed.
With your support through prayer for our work, volunteering of your time, or
donation of your treasure, Catholic Charities Community Services will continue
to transform the lives of our community's most vulnerable.
Peace and blessings,
Bob Brown, CEO
Catholic Charities Community Services
