Fast Facts - EmpowerU
EmpowerU
is a Catholic Charities volunteer-facilitated program that helps vulnerable individuals and families to permanently improve their financial situations and achieve long-term prosperity. We provide a continuum of services including financial education, skill and resource building, planning and mentorship.
EmpowerU
was developed in answer to
Catholic Charities USA’s
call to reduce poverty in America by 50 percent by 2020.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, over 900,000 Arizonans live at or below the federal poverty level (e.g. $22,050 annual income for a family of four). Living at that income level leaves individuals and families vulnerable to financial crisis and can make it difficult to meet basic needs or get ahead.
However, those who live in poverty suffer from a lack of access to many resources, only some of which are financial.
EmpowerU
helps participants create their own plan for accessing resources and building economic stability.
