Those who want to help people in need invited to A Day of HOPE
Event introduces potential volunteers to Paths of HOPE, a volunteer-facilitated Catholic Charities program to help motivated individuals and families to permanently improve their financial situation and achieve their dreams
PHOENIX — (Jan. 5, 2011) Catholic Charities Community Services invites those who want to help people in need to attend A Day of HOPE at the location nearest them. The event will introduce Paths of HOPE to potential volunteers.
Paths of HOPE is a volunteer-facilitated program that helps motivated individuals and families to permanently improve their financial situations and achieve their dreams through a continuum of education, personal development and resource building, and mentorship.
"The success of Paths of HOPE is dependent on volunteers from the communities we serve—they are the ones that deliver the program," said Aaron Stiner, Paths of HOPE senior program manager for Catholic Charities. "They teach financial education; they help those is need to examine what matters to them, what they want to accomplish, and help them plan how it can be achieved; and volunteers encourage and support them as they work to achieve their dreams."
Volunteers for the program are a special group referred to as the HOPE Corps. They receive all training and materials and may choose from a number of volunteer opportunities within the Paths of HOPE continuum of services which incude:
Arizona Saves financial education
Getting Ahead, a 15-session series of personal development and resource building workshops
Circles of HOPE community mentors
VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) free tax preparation
